What documents do I need to assemble?
ALL CLIENTS
- Completed tax questionnaire (PDF)
- Completed tax organizer (PDF)
- Income statements: W2s, 1099s, K-1s (all pages and instructions)
- Stock sales documents, including both purchase price and purchase date
- Settlement statements (also known as HUD statements), if you sold, purchased, or refinanced a house
- Rental income and expenses
- Charitable contribution statements
- 1098 mortgage interest statement and real estate taxes paid
- 1098-T for tuition and expenses related to book purchases and lab fees
- 1098-E student loan interest statement
- SSNs and DOBs for any (new) dependents
- Any other document you find relevant for the preparation of your return
- NEW CLIENTS: a copy of last year’s tax return, both federal and all states
BUSINESS OWNERS
- Profit and loss sheets
- Balance sheets
- 1099s (all pages and instructions)
- List of expenses and purchases for the business
- Backup of QuickBooks file, if applicable
- NEW CLIENTS: a copy of last year’s tax return, both federal and all states
- NEW CLIENTS: depreciation schedules
